Crown Berkey®️ Water Purifier
People seeking a reliable way to filter water quickly discover that the Berkey®️ system is the market leader for convenient water filtration. The Berkey®️ system removes a range of toxic chemicals and heavy metals from nearly any water source, and functions 100% off grid, with no electricity or water pressure required.
For Berkey®️ performance at scale, the Crown Berkey®️ is the single biggest system available on the market. Manufactured from 304 stainless steel, the system can store roughly 6 gallons (22.7 liters), and fully assembled stands 30” in height and 11” in diameter. When disassembled for transport, the upper chamber nests within the lower chamber and stands just 20” in height.
When used with two included Black Berkey®️ water elements (included with purchase), the system will purify up to 6.5 gallons (24.6 liters) per hour. For maximum rate of filtration, expand the system to eight Black Berkey®️ Elements for a maximum output of 26 gallons (98.4 liters) per hour.
Don’t sweat the reliability! On top of the manufacturer’s guarantee, we include a lifetime warranty covering the stainless steel Berkey®️ canisters and included components (spigot, washers and wingnuts). This does not include the Black Berkey®️ Elements, which are covered by the manufacturer. (Click here to learn about our warranty policy.)
This System includes the New Berkey® Quick-Start Kit:
- Prime Rite™ Universal Adapter (Only for use with faucet)
- Prime Rite™ Fluoride Element Adapter

I have to say that I love my “Crown Berkley System”. The water is the best water I ever tasted. My whole family also loves the taste of it. Also, it was very easy to setup. If you buy bottled water then do the math. Its a no brainer. I normaly spend about $20 a week on bottled water.Thats roughly $1040.00 a year. Its a great savings for my family and its healthier too. Best investment I ever made!

Question: What is the procedure for filling the Berkey Systems? Pour water in using a pan or pitcher? Thanks.
jeff (verified owner) –
Great question, you can pour water into the top chamber of the Berkey Systems using a pitcher or pan. We have used both when we fill our System.

I love knowing my body is getting the water it needs minus all the junk! My housemates have also enjoyed the taste and easy care to enjoy pure water. It was easy to put together, and when I did have a question, the help I received over the phone was efficient and correct. Thanks!

I don’t have one yet but plan on getting one in the very near future. I just have a question. How many gal of water can you put threw this before having to replace the cartridges? Thank you very much.
jeff (verified owner) –
Great question, with 2 Black Berkey Elements, you can purify up to 6000 gallons of water.
Peggy Allan –
I don’t have a Berkey yet. I was wondering if there is a easy way to keep track of how many gallons have been filtered so you know when to change a filter.
jeff (verified owner) –
We recommend taking your daily average use and then multiplying it by how many days you have used your Berkey system.

Why can you not ship to Iowa?
jeff (verified owner) –
Iowa requires costly testing and yearly fees in order to sell water purification systems in their state. In other words, it is a pay to play state.

What is the difference in the Crown Berkley and the Berkley Light Water Purifier? Is one better than the other? Thanks Penny
jeff (verified owner) –
It comes down to the amount of water needed, though the Berkey Light is more popular. The Crown Berkey System is 6 gallons in capacity and the Berkey Light is 3.25 gallons in capacity. The Stainless Steel is beautiful and very durable, but the Berkey Light is see-through and it is easy to see the water level.

How many gallons does the filter work for? I want to make sure that it will last for the a large amount. I was also pleased to read that it takes out nitrates and nitrites.
jeff (verified owner) –
When the System comes with 2 Black Berkey Elements, it will purify up to 6000 gallons. If you have 4 Elements, it will purify up to 12000 and so forth.
It does reduce Nitrites from the water, but any claims on reduction of Nitrates has been removed as recent testing data did not show consistent removal.

Just got ours in the mail today. Can’t wait to set it up. A question about the filters? I am saving up to purchase an extra set – are the filters one size fits all or are there different filters for different units?

How long does it take to filter 6 gallons of water?
jeff (verified owner) –
It should take 2 to 3 hours, can be faster.

Configured with two Black Berkey® purification elements the system will purify up to 6.5 Gallons (24.6 liters) per hour*. This system can be expanded to use eight purification elements and is capable of purify up to 26 Gallons (98.4 liters) per hour*.
* Flow rate calculated with upper chamber full to top. Flow rate decreases as water level declines.
